all-through consistency
As a film project goes through the many stages from original image capture through to screening of the completed production, it is important to maintain the original colour vision - the "look and feel" of the images, throughout the process. Efilm Australia and Atlab work closely together to maintain the technical standards necessary to ensure this consistency.
In order to achieve an accurate match between the digital projector in the grading suite, colour monitors, and the final projected film result, full closed loop system calibration including the processing laboratory is carried out. This includes regular scanner, display, recorder, and sensitometric control of the processing laboratory.
Calibration and close control of each element in this sequence also ensures that when material from other facilities is included in a production, the look is consistent. Efilm will run test material before proceeding with work supplied from other facilities to ensure that the results are as expected.
Most importantly, Efilm's colorists will see a job right through - from visiting the production during the shoot, through the DI grade, and controlling the balance of the final film print through the lab. You have the same pair of eyes, working with the filmmakers, understanding and overseeing the look of the entire project.
