bake
Efilm offers a unique service in conjunction with the independent colourists at BEAN that provides a much improved end result - whether for TVCs or longer-form work. What's more, it saves time and eliminates negative handling worries.
It's called BAKE.
Bake starts at Efilm with a simultaneous, real-time Rushes and Scanning process.
The rushes are transferred on Efilm's Spirit 4-4-4 Datacine with the usual care. Video rushes are produced and delivered to specification, on digibeta tape format, ready for editing in the usual way.
At the same time, as the film passes through the Spirit, a digital copy of the negative is captured. In developing BAKE we have exposed every available type of film stock and captured the profile of each one, so that the scanned data, with the correct profile applied, truly reflects all of the data available on the camera negative itself. It's not a graded video transfer; it's a perfect digital image of the original negative.
This provides the colorists at BEAN with a copy of your negative that truly reflects the film. The negative itself never leaves the lab, and never needs any more handling or cutting. The images are ready at BEAN for conforming to the edit and for final colour correction. If you need compositing or 3D work, it can start straight after the rushes session as the data for the required shots is ready to be supplied by BEAN on disk, tape, Firewire drive or network.
